Meet Mr. Lee Rochman, friend and fellow teaching colleague. We were introduced by his fellow teacher at Lokelani Intermediate School on Maui and I volunteer in Lee's 7th/8th grade special education classroom once a week. Both teacher and students have welcomed me to the group and appreciate my input. Mr. Rochman lets me lead artistic and creative activities. This is my first experience interacting with special ed students and I must say, we match like pieces of a puzzle. Lee is also an artist and musician who encourages his students gift's instead of their differences. His spacious classroom currently has a teen club theme with areas for music making, cooking, a beauty salon, as well as a variety of creative pursuits with the group. He wrote the Best Buddies theme song for this organization that matches special ed students with general ed students on a 1-to-1 basis. They attend Best Buddies events and keep in touch through emails and school contact. Kudos to Mike McCormick for bringing Best Buddies programs to the schools - www.bestbuddieshawaii.org. These are very exciting times indeed plus the students are thriving and smiling. Please Allow Me to Introduce myself...Kamalani Rose, creator of this website..One may not believe that a world traveler gypsy like me would develop an educational website but my adventurous life has led my way, every step of this journey. As a child I was very sensitive, intuitive and unique in my own way, as we all are, one big human family. Only a few teachers inspired me and even less class content rang my chimes, so I travelled to the beat of my own drum. This open space manifested connections with others who are striving to learn in creative ways according to their gifts. We are developing and sharing an expanded view of eduction that includes input from students, teachers, and the community. My life has been based in the arts: crafts, music, dance, drama and healing: alternatives to western medical philosophy, holistic healing studies and especially my rich, spiritual life based mainly in Tibetan Buddhism and expanded to include the traditions of indigenous cultures. I feel so very guided by our heavenly guardians and they have blessed me with new insights and teachings. These angels include Guru Padmasambhava, my paternal grandpa Sam and my Hawaiian connection, "Tutu" Caroline and her circle of female elders. Deep gratitude and joy touches my heart.My healing work includes spiritual counseling, wellness coaching, compassionate communication, art therapy, sound and energy healing, and aromatherapy with DoTerra essential oils. These modalities have been shown to be very beneficial for special ed students and those on the autism spectrum. I believe that these "other abled" people have gifts untold that are waiting to burst forth and enhance our lives!
My Joy of Creative Expression classes begin with guided imagery and sound healing that soothe the soul as we are led into a creative art, music, or movement project and end with a rockin' drumming and dance circle. Everyone leaves the class smiling, enriched and empowered. A fun time is had by all, young and old, special ed and general ed students alike. I also encourage students to hum and use their voices as an instrument that speaks through them as I demonstate the power of spontaneous singing and healing. Visionary, Suzy Miller is founder of Blue Star Brilliance and author of AWESOMISM: A New Way to Understand the Diagnosis of Autism. In accordance with the multidimensional wisdom of these children, Suzy has recently developed The New Human Experience Project. A project dedicated to supporting all in the conscious, joyful experience and integration of their multidimensional selves.
Suzy has been speaking internationally, since 2000, advancing the consciousness of parents and professionals
related to the multidimensional gifts of their children. The children’s recent collective request to help everyone grow into a multidimensional awareness of them prompted the development of The New Human Experience Project which was launched February 2010. Suzy’s own multidimensional gifts allow her to consciously raise the vibrational frequency of a situation, help bring to consciousness a new perspective from that higher vantage point and assist in the integration of that frequency so it becomes a conscious way of BEING. In all aspects of her work she creates and supports a powerful shift in consciousness facilitating a concrete awareness of A New Human Experience.
